Sudan airways has had a major crash at Khartoum Airport, Sudan. A
Sudan Airways plane has crashed killing at least 100 people.
The Sudan Airways airbus appears to have crashed on landing and burst into flames. Its believed that some of the over 200 people onboard have survived. I am not a nervous flyer but some airlines just scare the hell out of me When considering taking a flight on airline such as Sudan Airways then there is one key thing to check on: not how new or fancy their planes are, though it helps if they aren’t a model that have been recalled with mechanical faults but check who maintains their planes. Yes not where they recruit their pilots: the number one issue with shall we say third tier carriers is the maintenance schedule. Smaller is often better in this case. I don’ know where Sudan Airways maintain their craft in fact its possible that the use a reputable third country. Aircraft maintenance gives some weird facts : that tiny Pacific Island running 1.5 planes is probably maintained to New Zealand or Ausralian standards in Auckland or Sydney. However Indonesia’s Garuda airline is a huge airline is in danger fo being banned from Australian airports because of its terrible safety and maintenace record.
