Gooey Duck is how you pronounced Geoduck which is a large saltwater clam.
Gooey Duck are the world’s largest clam native to the Pacific NorthWest and British Columbia waters.
The ugly bivalve is valuable: the gooey duck is prized in Asia for is supposed “male performance enhancing properties” and can sell for up to $30/lb with large specimens weighing in at 15lb that’s a serious fishery industry. The Chinese cook Gooey Duck and serve in fondue style in a broth, the Japanese use it for sashimi. At least the Gooey Duck is now a sustainable aquaculture industry in both Washington State and British Columbia. Other Japanese delicacies such as whale are lot more controversial. Its interesting though the Asian fixation on various seafoods which are supposed to enhance male virility :while the West tends to focus more on chemical substitutes - which is best :I am sure the farmers of Gooey Duck really don’t care!
