Typhoon Frank (officially Typhoon Fengshen) has hit the southern Philippines causing widespread damage and loss of life. Typhoon Frank may have caused a packed ferry to capsize as well

In the southern province of Romblon. a packed ferry with possibly over 700 on board has over-turned and is feared that there may be few survivors. Only 3 survivors were confirmed by nightfall and heavy seas prevented nearby islanders from launching rescue boats. Flash floods and landslides have caused huge amounts of damage in the southern areas of Philippines with Typhoon Frank now heading towards Manila and further north to Taiwan. The low lying Philippines have been subject to quite a few typhoons this year but Typhoon Frank is the worst to date and if the worst happens with the over-turned ferry may well be worst as far as loss of life too.
