Mukwonago Dam could break is the concern of officials the 250foot high Mukwonago Dam which holds back Lake Phantom could break at anytime
So why is the dam in danger of breaking? Is it the recent bad weather and storms which has created the problem for the Phantom Lake Dam? Is the Mukwonago under threat by terrorists: maybe eco-terrorists? Nope. The Mukwonago Dam is the victim of plain and simple incompetence and cost-cutting from the local authority. Dams are designed to hold back water but have a tendency to silt up as well. Silt, vegetation and similar debris is much more destructive to a dam. In fact what happened at Phantom Lake was even worse. The authorities allowed the dam to actually spill over because of the build up of vegetation. This in turn led to erosion of the sides and foundations of the dam. So no its not a matter of if or how to prevent the collapse of the dam: merely a matter of whether it will occur today or tomorrow

I am not sure where you got your info from, but that dam is not even close to 250 feet tall. Maybe 15-20 tops. Also, the back up due to vegetation was a bog that dislodged from the shore upstream and lodged at the dam for an hour or so before it could be removed. Just a heads up.
