Anjali Datta is a bright kid: she has the highest GPA in her graduating class at Grapevine High School, but she can’t be valedictorian and get the college scholarship which goes with the title. Why! Because the officials can’t bend the rules that she should have taken her course in 4 years, when if fact she only took 3.
Yes yet again the education system proves that it can only cater to the mediocre, the majority, the average. The brightest and slowest student’s don’t do well in an education system designed to service the needs of the average student. The system is just to big and too awkward and basically is run by the narrow minded and self-serving. I be none of the board who decided that Anjali Datta couldn’t have her rightful title had ever held it themselves. I doubt they realise the hurt and bewilderment they have created for Anjali. At the end of the day the loose is not just Anjali Datta but also the other kids :the kid who came second thinks he’s a winner now because he gets the prize. The education system is just a joke but I can’t see any politician having the guts to do anything about it.
